Laconia Appointments Subcommittee forwards multiple nominees to full council

The Appointments Subcommittee of the Laconia City Council met March 20, 2026, and voted to forward a slate of candidates for appointment or reappointment to the full City Council for formal approval on April 13, 2026. The subcommittee, composed of Councilor Robert Soucy, Councilor Mike Conant and Councilor Jon Hildreth, established a quorum and processed minutes and nominations during the 3:00 p.m. meeting.
Subcommittee members approved motions to recommend appointments for alternates and regular members across the Zoning Board of Adjustment, Planning Board, Library Board, Weirs TIF District Advisory Board and Trustees of the Trust Funds. Most motions passed unanimously; one motion — the recommendation of Debra Cheney to the Zoning Board as a regular member — passed by a 2–1 vote with Councilor Conant recorded as opposed. The recommendations will appear on the April 13, 2026 City Council agenda for final action.
