The Jefferson County Board of Zoning Appeals voted to approve a variance request to replace an existing deck and add an overhang on the Seabird property after hearing testimony and reviewing the application.
The Chair invited the Seabird representative to the podium to describe the work in lay terms; the applicant said the project is "refilling the already existing deck and putting the overhang over it." Board members asked whether any neighbors had complained; the applicant said they had not. The Clerk then read the board's standard required findings, saying that "the approval will not be injurious to the public health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the community," and the board confirmed those findings as true before approving the motion.
The board recorded a motion to accept the variance, took a voice vote and approved it. The Clerk told the applicant staff would provide the findings of fact and the signed application and schedule an appointment to begin the building-permit process.
The approval includes the board's standard conditions (compliance with applicable development regulations and permit requirements); staff will follow up with the applicant about the next procedural steps.
