Peter Seehusen presented a proposal to the Board suggesting the county use ARPA funds to add two additional cell modules (12 beds) to the second floor of the new Law Enforcement Center. Seehusen told supervisors the work would cost "about $250,000 for 12 more beds with the potential of generating approximately $200,000 in revenue," which he said could accelerate bond payoff.
Chairman Kyle Smith and other supervisors acknowledged the information but indicated they preferred to reserve ARPA funds for other priorities. The minutes record that board members thanked Seehusen for the information but did not approve using ARPA for the expansion on Dec. 10; the concept remains a proposal for future consideration if the Board chooses to revisit it.
