Upper Des Moines requests $18,000 from Pocahontas County after serving 4,026 residents

Julie Edwards, executive director of Upper Des Moines, presented the organization's annual report to the Board, saying the food and support network served 4,026 individuals in 1,537 households in Pocahontas County from Oct. 1, 2023, through Sept. 30, 2024 at a total cost of $476,353.67.
Edwards asked the county to include a FY26 budget request for $18,000 to support local services. The Board heard the report and the request; no formal action or vote on the $18,000 request is recorded in the Dec. 10 minutes, so the funding decision will be pending at subsequent county budget proceedings.
