Dan Healy, city clerk, said the city previously bought 28 poll pads as a rollout and plans to distribute the remaining 27 so all wards have devices for upcoming elections. "So the the poll pads are for, quicker voter check-in on election day," Healy said, explaining the pads let voters go to the shortest ballot clerk rather than lining up by last-name groupings. Healy also said the vendor quoted $56,800 for the equipment and noted a $325 annual maintenance fee per pad, which he estimated would total about $17,875 per year once all pads are in use.
