Council member Brian Cassidy moved and Mike Mumper seconded a motion to approve a water contract with Michigan City; the council approved the motion by roll call, 3–0.
The contract approval occurred alongside a staff update on the village water program. Council member Mike Mumper said a new pump will be installed after Labor Day and that Merritt Engineering is finalizing plans for a water-main project on Creek that is part of a $620,000 grant. "The water main project is estimated to take 2 or 3 weeks and by mid-November the asphalt could be done," Mumper said. The meeting record does not include the contract text or specifics of obligations to Michigan City.
