Police report: 11–12 trees cut in village dune area; chief asks residents to report tips

Layman asked anyone with information to contact the police department and said the council requested notification of the arborist, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) because the trees are located in the critical dune, and Chikaming Open Lands because the property is in a land trust. The council asked residents to come forward if they saw or heard anything the Friday early‑afternoon when the damage occurred.
