The Village of Michiana Council voted Sept. 6 to install irrigation, regrade and hydroseed the park lawn, approving contractor proposals with a spending cap of $40,000. Councilmember Mike Mumper presented two estimates—Down to Earth for $19,000 and Serviscape for $20,260—and amended his motion to limit total expenditure to $40,000; the roll-call vote was 5–0 in favor.
Mumper said an anonymous resident offered a substantial donation to support the project. Council members agreed the seeded area will be fenced and closed until spring to allow the new grass to establish; playgrounds and the pickleball court will remain open with an alternate entrance described by the council. The motion was seconded by Tim McCarthy and passed by unanimous roll call.
