Board delays decision on District vehicle policy after questions about cars taken home

Trustees pressed for clarification about district vehicles that go home with employees and whether personal use is being recorded as a fringe benefit. Vice Chair Andersen said she'd seen vehicles "all over the area" and questioned why more than one vehicle is allowed to go home. Transportation staff and employees described current practice; the board asked that Policy 810.00 be held for a second reading so the district can clarify rules and mileage accounting.
At the July meeting the policies packet was considered and the board voted to approve the slate of policies except Policy 810.00 (District Owned Vehicles), which Vice Chair Andersen asked to hold for a second reading after discussion about on-call use, logs and fringe-benefit treatment. The consent-to-approve motion for the other policies carried.
