Highway commissioner reports ditch mowing, culvert orders and equipment needs; hiring underway

Highway Commissioner Kyle Walter told the board the department completed the first round of ditch mowing (repairing a couple of flat tires along the way), ordered culverts from Illowa Culvert and Supply Co for a replacement on Norma Lane, and is doing weekly cemetery mowing. He said new blades were ordered for a ditch mower and a belt for a Kubota tractor is on order.
Walter said the department bought railroad ties at Tractor Supply for a drainage wall repair, Tim’s Tree Service removed a dead, rotted tree and a nearby farm agreed to take the wood, and long-time staffer Kurt Trebes informed the department he is leaving to take a position with the Boone County Highway Department. "If any of you all would like me to add something else in on these meetings that isn’t included, please let me know and I will add said things in!" Walter said. He also referenced an attachment titled 'Truck Replacement Numbers' showing financing options for a truck replacement.
