County warns of separate Medicaid application process and longer renewals starting next year

Lacey Trimble told the committee the county will change how residents apply for Medicaid and Temporary Assistance: "Beginning around January, there will be two separate applications; however, individuals may still apply through the exchange or through the county, but each will require its own application."
Trimble also said that most locally managed Medicaid cases will move to 12-month renewals rather than the current six-month renewals, a change intended to reduce administrative churn. Committee members discussed how the change could affect staffing and application processing during upcoming budget planning.
