Seguin ISD earns Superior FIRST rating, posts score of 92

Seguin ISD’s chief financial officer told the board on Dec. 17 that the district earned a "Superior" rating under the Texas Education Agency’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for 2023-24, with a score of 92. Elizabeth Oaks, the district’s chief financial officer, presented the Annual Financial Management Report and said the rating is based on 2022-2023 data.
Oaks told trustees that Seguin ISD has received the state’s highest FIRST designation since the ratings were first issued in 2002-2003. Board members asked questions about the report and Oaks addressed them; there were no questions from members of the public during the hearing. The presentation and accompanying data were provided to the board as part of the district’s required annual financial reporting to the Texas Education Agency.
