Village of Mazon Personnel Committee recommends raises for five employees

Chairman Roland Tondini called the Village of Mazon Personnel Committee to order at 4:34 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2026, and reported that he and committee member P. Pastick had completed employee performance reviews the prior week and found morale to be good. He said he wanted the committee to agree on a recommendation for raises so it could appear on the Monday council agenda.

At 4:41 p.m. committee member P. Pastick moved to enter executive session under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) to discuss "the employment compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body." The motion was seconded by R. Tondini and carried on a roll call in which K. Houchin, P. Pastick and R. Tondini voted yes. The committee reconvened to regular session at 6:00 p.m.; K. Houchin moved to reconvene, seconded by P. Pastick, and the same three members again recorded yes votes.

After returning to open session, the Personnel Committee recorded the following recommended increases for employees: Lawrence Pastick — 6%; Melanie Murphy — $2.00 per hour; John Frederick — 4%; Marc Milburn — 5%; and Logan Jacobsgaard — 5%. The minutes state that the committee "recommends" these raises for placement on the next council agenda; the record does not show a separate roll-call vote to adopt the recommendation as a formal action beyond the minutes' notation.

The minutes list committee members present as R. Tondini, P. Pastick, K. Houchin, M. Murphy and J. Marques, with K. Webster absent. The document separately lists an employee named Melanie Murphy among those recommended for a raise; the minutes do not clarify whether M. Murphy listed as present is the same individual as the employee named Melanie Murphy. Similarly, the record lists P.
