Mazon zoning committee weighs permit fee increases as costs rise

During discussion, R. Tondini proposed raising some fees by about 10 percent and recommended specific increases: roof and fence/deck permits to $50, and garage and pool permits to $100. J. Kowalewski presented fee prices for unincorporated Grundy County for comparison, and members agreed to look at surrounding villages' prices before finalizing changes.
The committee emphasized avoiding fee increases that would deter new construction. Members said more information is needed before broad changes and tasked P. Pastick with compiling ordinances and other reference materials for the next meeting. No formal ordinance changes or fee adoptions were enacted at the meeting.
