Village approves $5,000 contract for lead service-line inventory

The Ladd Village Board on Nov. 25 approved a $5,000 agreement with Chamlin Engineering to update the village's second Lead Service Line Inventory and ensure compliance with Illinois EPA standards. Engineer Adam Ossola presented the proposal and trustees voted unanimously to authorize the contract.
Ossola said the original survey in April listed 185 unknown service lines; "After potholing this fall, we are down to 30 unknown lines." He reported that 18 of those 30 will need to be potholed in spring, roughly 11 require photos or interior inspections, and about 50 services in the village are galvanized and likely need replacement. He added the village will have 15 years, after the final plan is completed in 2027, to complete replacements. Clerk Rhonda Bezely asked about grant funding and Ossola said grants are available and he would notify her when applications can be filed.
