Manufacturer seeks rezoning of downtown Clanton site for electrical panel plant

Mayor Jeff Price opened a public hearing June 22 on a rezoning application from Bajaj Coneagle LLC for property at 504 6th Street S. (PIN 15378, Parcel 1701012001026000). Ray Moore, representing Bajaj Coneagle, told the council the company plans to demolish the existing Moore's Glass building and construct a new electrical control panel assembly plant on the site.
Moore told the council the company expects to break ground in three to six months, employ six people initially and expand to roughly 20 employees within a year. The applicant described the use as light manufacturing, and the requested zoning change would move the lot from B-1 (Central Business District) to M-1 (Light Industrial District). No members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing.
Councilmember Billy Singleton read Ordinance No. 2026-07 in full as a first reading and said a copy would be available for public review at Clanton City Hall during business hours; the council did not take final action on June 22. The item will return to a future meeting for further consideration and any required vote.
