Council explains paid parking near Village Hall amid resident confusion

At the June 13 meeting Tim McCarthy addressed resident confusion about newly enforced paid parking in front of Village Hall. He explained that residents should display the longstanding hanging tags (and golf-cart stickers on the back fender) to use designated spots, and that visitors may park for a fee or use free parking areas along Michiana Drive or Cherokee Drive.
"This council never said outside visitors were not welcomed," McCarthy said, adding that the policy intends to reserve closer spaces for taxpayers who visit Village Hall or the park with small children. He said that during village-hosted events such as music in the park, parking in front of Village Hall will be free.
