Council limits pickleball tournament to three days after resident complaint about behavior
Summary
Council agreed to allow a pickleball tournament Sept. 5'7, with setup starting Sept. 5 at 4 p.m.; a resident complained about some players relieving themselves by the creek and staff will lock/unlock courts beginning May 1.
Lisa Zirpolo requested a four-day reservation for a pickleball tournament; the council reduced that to three days and approved play on Friday, Sept. 5 (set up starting 4 p.m.), Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7. Tim McCarthy made the motion to allow the tournament on those dates; Mike Botelho seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Public Works Superintendent Rick Reitz said staff will begin locking and unlocking the pickleball/tennis courts on May 1 and removed net cranks that had been repeatedly broken or stolen. During public comment resident Pam Schutt complained that some pickleball players were relieving themselves by the creek; Nancy Thill, participating by Zoom, noted quieter pickleball options that she said "do work."
