The Cortland Board of Trustees approved a resolution (Form BLR14220) under the Illinois Highway Code to appropriate $40,000 in Motor Fuel Tax funds for the purchase of road salt from MFT account 02-6400-220. Trustee Haier moved the resolution and Trustee Siewierski seconded; the roll-call vote recorded yeas from the four trustees present and the motion carried (R 2026-01).
Town Engineer Brandy Williams noted it was the first time the town had purchased road salt ahead of time and stated that it is permissible to use MFT funds for maintenance materials for roads, such as salt.
