Cortland adopts FY2027 budget, restores Lions Club donation to $20,000

The Town of Cortland Board of Trustees approved the fiscal year 2027 budget for the Town and the Cortland Community Library on April 27. The public hearing on the tentative budget had been opened, the public notice read into the record (Daily Chronicle, March 19, 2026) and then closed with no public comment.
Trustee Corson moved to approve the FY27 budget and to restore the Lions Club annual donation to $20,000 (previously reduced to $10,000). Julie Thomsen of Lauterbach & Amen told trustees that modifying the donation "would not change any other line item in the General Fund," and described where the line-item change appears in the budget. The motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
The approved budget covers the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2026 and ending April 30, 2027; trustees did not identify additional programmatic changes during the meeting.
