Board approves up-to-$900 salter purchase after resident request; highway seeks loader quotes

Robert Kohrman asked the board for a new salter for the town Kubota during public comment. In response, the board approved Motion #56 (moved by Councilman Scott Fish, seconded by Douglas McCall) to purchase a new salter not to exceed $900, to be paid from the Parks Equipment line. The vote carried 3-1 (Aye – McCall, Dubay, Fish; Nay – McNally).
Highway Superintendent Jonathan Fish reported that crew time had been spent clearing light snow, that he is soliciting quotes on a loader and hopes to use CHIPS funds for the purchase, and that the DEC required the fuel tank be moved inside and painted. Councilman Fish followed up by asking Mr. Kohrman how the parks building heat was working; Adirondack P&M has reviewed the highway building boiler and will provide an estimate to switch to a more efficient propane boiler.
