Council members approved buying excavating equipment for the City cemetery after staff indicated a 24-inch bucket was preferred over a 20-inch unit. The change raised the price to $43,080.83.
Ald. Brewer moved to purchase the equipment and use perpetual care funds to pay for it; Ald. Goins seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote, 7-0. Treasurer White told the Council the Cemetery Perpetual Fund includes a certificate of deposit of $98,679.35 maturing Jan. 20 that could be tapped to replenish funds if necessary.
The purchase was recorded as a 7-0 approval; the Council did not identify a vendor in the meeting record.
