Mayor Courtney led a second reading of the annual levy and the council approved Ordinance 1618, setting the levy at $644,013.90. Ald. Waldrop moved for passage; the ordinance passed on a roll call vote of 6-0-2 (Fritch and Dunn absent).
Curt Benson of Kemper Associates confirmed audit figures presented earlier; "At the end of fiscal 2025, the City had $8.7 million in holdings," Benson said. The council also passed Ordinance 1619 to accept the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association’s Minimum/Maximum contribution agreement to secure insurance coverage for the city. The insurance bill for the year was listed as $147,716.72. Brewer moved for passage; the motion carried on the same 6-0-2 roll call vote.
The approvals followed routine financial review items earlier in the meeting, including a Treasurer’s Report and discussion about the city’s certificates of deposit. Council members did not record any dissent during the votes; absent members were Aldermen Fritch and Dunn.
