Council approves minutes, bills, property bids and several equipment purchases

The Lawrenceville City Council voted on a set of routine and nonroutine items at its Jan. 8 meeting, approving administrative minutes, accepting sealed bids for city parcels and authorizing several purchases.
Ald. Dunn moved to approve the December meeting minutes; Ald. Goins seconded and the motion passed on a voice vote. The Council then approved paying department bills after a motion by Ald. Brewer and a second from Ald. Greene; the roll-call vote was 7-0 with yeas recorded as Waldrop, Volkman, Greene, Goins, Fritch, Dunn and Brewer. The Mayor opened sealed bids on three parcels. Melissa Edgin bid $10,000 for 902 12th Street and Heather Vencil bid $1,510.23 for 1510 13th Street; Ald. Brewer moved to accept the bids and Ald. Waldrop seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote, 7-0.
Other approved actions included authorizing ADG of Mt. Carmel to advertise for Armory roof repairs (proposed bid date Feb. 10, 2026), and approving a $43,080.83 purchase of excavating equipment for the cemetery with funds to come from the Cemetery Perpetual Fund. Several of those items passed on roll-call votes recorded as 7-0; others passed on voice votes as noted by the clerk.
