The council approved changes to Heritage Center rental rules effective May 1, 2026, removing the proposed deposit requirement, requiring host liquor liability insurance for events where alcohol is served, and prohibiting the sale of alcohol on the premises. The motion to approve the amended changes was made by Alderperson Ethan Lartz and seconded by Alderperson Brad Knutti; the motion carried by five aye votes (Alderpersons Lartz, Knutti, Metz, Plock and Rausch).
Council discussion included clarifying the practical enforcement of the insurance requirement and confirming that alcohol sales will not be permitted. The update was presented as an amendment to existing rental policy rather than a new ordinance change, and staff will apply the May 1 effective date to future bookings.
