Mayor Jeri Rogan read and the council approved a proclamation "recognizing April 11–18, 2026 as the Week of the Young Child," which the Mayor will sign, and the council noted an ABATE proclamation for May 2026. Bella Ceoe, representing Birth to Five Illinois (Region 8), provided an overview of the organization's early-childhood work and stressed the statewide shortage of childcare providers and the importance of kindergarten readiness.
The council took the proclamation by voice vote during the April 7 meeting. The proclamation and the Birth to Five Illinois overview were presented as part of routine proclamations and community recognitions; the council did not take further formal action beyond approval and signature.
