Moira board grants emergency purchasing power, cites flood damage from Tropical Depression Debby

At its Aug. 27 meeting, the Town of Moira Board adopted Resolution #137-2024 to waive the usual $2,000 limit on purchases by the Highway Superintendent for expenditures related to response and repair from the August flash flooding caused by Tropical Depression Debby. The waiver takes effect immediately and is set to expire on Sept. 7, 2024, or later if Franklin County extends its declared state of emergency.
Supervisor Chad Niles explained the waiver was taken under emergency provisional authorization granted Aug. 10. The waiver was adopted by unanimous consent. Earlier in the meeting the board also recorded and approved General Abstract 8 (claims #147–174) totaling $65,834.46 and Highway Fund Abstract 8 (claims #96–107) totaling $11,802.59, which the board approved on a 5–0 roll-call vote.
