Board approves surviving-spouse benefit and pension for Lt. Gregory Schoon

At its Jan. 15 meeting the Lansing Police Pension Fund Board approved a surviving-spouse benefit for Michael Dohl and a regular retirement calculation for Lieutenant Gregory Schoon. L&A prepared the survivorship calculation for Michael Dohl — effective Nov. 27, 2025 — and the Board approved a monthly benefit of $8,207.58 with no additional increases. Trustee Sharon Novak moved and Trustee Norb Schlesser seconded the motion to approve the surviving-spouse benefit.
The Board also reviewed L&A's retirement calculation for Lieutenant Gregory Schoon: entry date June 2, 1997; retirement date Dec. 12, 2025; pension effective Dec. 13, 2025; age 54 at retirement; 28 years of creditable service; applicable salary of $148,171.70; pension percentage 70%; originally granted monthly pension $8,643.35 and annual pension $103,720.20. Trustee Joshua Talavera-Little moved to approve and Trustee Matt Prendergast seconded; the motion carried by roll call vote.
