Board accepts three new members into pension fund, approves two contribution refunds

The Lansing Police Pension Fund Board approved three applications for membership and two contribution refunds at its Jan. 15 meeting. Trustee Matt Prendergast moved and Trustee Sharon Novak seconded acceptance of Tariq Abu-Romman effective Jan. 8, 2026 and Bryan Besowshek and Samuel Lash effective Oct. 23, 2025 as Tier II participants.
The Board also approved a contribution refund for Michael Rafferty in the amount of $2,450.32 paid directly to him on Dec. 11, 2025 (motion by Trustee Sharon Novak, seconded by Trustee Joshua Talavera-Little). Separately, the Board approved a direct rollover refund for Tyler Schutt in the amount of $6,731.91 issued on Dec. 22, 2025 (motion by Trustee Matt Prendergast, seconded by Trustee Joshua Talavera-Little). All motions carried by roll call vote with four ayes and one absent.
