Leland Grove council approves warrants totaling $80,659 and earmarks tax revenue for roadwork

Treasurer Brian Miller presented the monthly financial statements and led alderpersons through approval of three warrant packets. The council approved P-4-752 (Unpaid Warrants General Fund) for $25,655.96, P-4-753 (Unpaid Warrants MFT) for $944.42 and P-4-754 (Paid Warrants General Fund) for $54,059.20; each motion carried with Alderpersons Hetherington, Gaz, Slayton, Cull and Lafrenz voting yea.
Miller reported the city’s total fund balance as of March 31, 2026 was $1,039,861.76 and said Illinois Funds year-to-date earnings for the investment account were $427.47. He also noted that the Non-Home Rule Tax collected $4,145.92 in January and "the money will be put toward road improvements." Council members discussed forming a Finance Committee and issuing a request for professional auditing services after concerns were raised about the timeliness of the annual audit presentation.
