Alderman Volkman told the council he had continuing concerns about employee timesheets and initially moved to adopt an electronic device to monitor employee time. He then withdrew that motion and moved for the Finance Committee to review electronic timekeeping options; Alderman Hedge seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote 6-2, with Aldermen Goins and Greene recorded as the nays.
Separately, the council continued discussion about whether to purchase a jet-vac truck for Utilities and Street departments and debated funding options (cashing CDs versus financing). No motion was taken on the jet-vac truck during the May 14 meeting. Alderman Volkman also raised Citywide Cleanup and the possibility of an IEPA investigation while other aldermen thanked Parks Superintendent Grant McDonald for maintenance work.
