The City Council approved two liquor-license requests on Sept. 11. Laura Hoke requested a Class D license to operate a sports bar at 1006 State Street; Ald. Volkman moved to approve, Ald. Brewer seconded, and the motion passed 6-0-2.
Separately, the Copper Courtyard Event Center at 715 12th Street applied for a Class J license for event venues, a license category created the previous month. Ald. Volkman moved to approve the Class J request and Ald. Brewer seconded; the motion passed 5-1-2 with Ald. Waldrop recorded as the lone dissenting vote. Minutes do not record detailed grounds for the dissent or any conditions placed on either license.
Both approvals were routine votes on the council's consent/business agenda and included standard roll-call tallies in the minutes.
