IMPD North District stresses reunification approach after city curfew change, announces community events

An IMPD North District representative updated the room on community outreach events and operational changes tied to a recent city-county council change to the youth curfew. The officer said, "What that does mean is that, IMPD will be focusing on individuals who are out unsupervised, you know, not going to to or from work, and and who are up to no good." He emphasized the department's reunification approach, saying officers primarily seek to reconnect youth with guardians and to offer services rather than impose fines on parents at this time.
The North District also promoted volunteer and community opportunities: a car show at Castleton Square Mall on July 11 to raise funds for community programs and an Aug. 29 North District Community Day at the mall. The officer encouraged nonprofits and neighborhood groups to sign up for no-cost vendor spots to reach thousands of attendees and help distribute information about summer programming and safety initiatives.
