The presenter said Arcadia High showed roughly 50 fewer students and McKinleyville about 10 fewer; alternative education sites were largely stable.
Administrators said some declines reflect fewer interdistrict transfers being accepted after paperwork deadlines, and they noted efforts to verify residency where community members raised concerns about false addresses. S2 said secretaries follow up with multiple forms of verification. The district plans summer outreach to families and communications through associate schools to encourage students who haven’t finalized enrollments to register for the coming year.
Board members and commenters pressed the district on strategies to mitigate declining enrollment and suggested outreach tactics including PR, social media, radio and partnerships with local media. The administration said it would explore additional marketing and community-engagement steps and possibly offer HR or business services to other districts to offset costs.
