Town of Moira preliminary budget 4% over tax cap, bookkeeper says

Moira, N.Y. — Angela Debeer, the town bookkeeper, told the board at an Oct. 22 preliminary budget public hearing that "the Town of Moira is 4 percent over the tax cap." The meeting was held at the Moira Town Offices and opened at 6:03 p.m.
Debeer presented the proposed 2025 preliminary budget and said the town exceeds the tax cap by four percent. She said the final budget will be adopted at the board’s Nov. 12 meeting and that the Town Clerk had received no written comments as of the hearing; written comments will be accepted through Nov. 12. The board did not offer comments during the hearing and no members of the public spoke.
Amanda M. Dishaw, Moira town clerk, recorded that the public hearing closed at 6:25 p.m. The minutes submitted with the hearing note the attendance of Supervisor Chad Niles and council members Adam Deuyour, Justin Robinson, Timothy Trimm and Frank Snyder. The town’s next formal step is the Nov. 12 meeting when the board is scheduled to adopt the final 2025 budget.
