Moira adopts building energy benchmarking policy to track municipal energy use

At its Oct. 8 meeting the Town of Moira Board unanimously adopted Resolution #155-2024 to establish a Building Energy Benchmarking policy and procedures. The policy applies to Covered Municipal Buildings 1,000 square feet or larger, requires the Commissioner (Town Supervisor) or designee to input the previous calendar year's energy use into ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager by May 1 each year, and requires the Town to publish benchmarking information on the internet by Sept. 30 of each year.
The resolution defines key terms such as Energy Use Intensity (EUI), Weather Normalized Site EUI, and Energy Performance Score, and designates the Town Supervisor as the Commissioner and Chief Enforcement Officer for the policy. The board approved the resolution by motion (moved by Councilman Justin Robinson, seconded by Councilman Adam Deuyour) and accepted it by unanimous consent.
