Town adopts FY2025 budget with higher tax levies across funds

The Town of Montour Town Board voted unanimously on Nov. 7, 2024 to adopt the FY2025 budget (Resolution #64). The board recorded the following principal line items: General Fund town-wide appropriations $407,556 with $249,346 to be raised by tax; General Fund outside appropriations $30,265; Highway Fund town-wide appropriations $292,245 with $261,295 to be raised by tax; Highway Fund outside appropriations $360,180 with $133,680 to be raised by tax.
Fire protection line items recorded in the adopted budget include Fire Protection District #1 — Montour Falls (SF1) with amount to be raised by tax $40,621 and Fire Protection District #2 — Odessa (SF2) with amount to be raised by tax $59,996. The board adopted the budget after previously adopting a local law to permit levy amounts in excess of the statutory limit. The meeting record shows Ayes 4, Noes 0 on the adoption.
Supervisor David Scott provided the October reports for review; the clerk noted third-quarter sales tax receipts of $20,400.11 that were recorded with other communications. The board set the next meeting for Dec. 10, 2024.
