Several residents addressed the council during public comment, raising continuing concerns about quarry truck traffic and asking for updates on a possible school consolidation. Cristain Zimpher said the quarry had previously promised to assess damage to homes and had not followed up: “The trucks are still driving down Kennedy,” he said, and urged the council to keep the issue on its agenda. The council acknowledged the complaint and said it would remain a focus.
Vicki Schroder asked whether ticketing quarry owners rather than drivers was legally permissible. Sgt. Sanfilipo responded that the driver’s choices determine citations, but if an owner knowingly allows an unlicensed (non-CDL) operator to use heavy equipment, the owner can be summonsed. On the school question, Zimpher asked whether taxes would rise with a merger; council members said there had been no new meetings or updates since prior discussions.
Council members reiterated the need to continue monitoring and follow up with the quarry and to pursue enforcement options where appropriate. The council did not take a vote or issue new enforcement directives during the March 23 meeting.
