Commissioners review facilities work, insurance updates and proposed budgets ahead of Sept. 9 work session

Commissioners reported completion of some courthouse work, scheduled window replacement, insurance updates for old public works buildings, planning for Quonset repairs/lease/auction, and scheduled a Sept. 9 work session to review a full proposed budget once health insurance estimates are available.
Commissioner Tom Appel told the board courthouse exterior landings have been completed, window replacement is scheduled Oct. 15–Nov. 15, and insurances on old public works buildings have been updated with MCIT. Appel said the county will develop a plan in September for the Quonset (possible re-roofing and re-siding), meet with UCAP about renting the truck shed, and consider auction or sealed bids for a bare lot. Chair Kevin Stevens reported the East Courthouse parking lot will be for customer/public parking except five reserved spots for county vehicles and law enforcement and noted the closing on the old highway shop sale occurred Aug. 28.
SWCD District Administrator Kay Gross reviewed the proposed SWCD budget and Auditor/Treasurer Carolyn Rempel reviewed the General Administration proposed budget. Rempel said she will run a complete proposed budget (with actual or estimated health insurance numbers) for the Sept. 9 work session.
