Jury ratifies committee reports; approves derelict-structure step, reappointment, CEA and ordinances

The Assumption Parish Police Jury convened at 6:06 p.m. and ratified the recommendations from its standing committees. The Jury adopted a resolution reappointing Mr. Corey Crochet to Recreation District No. 2 (Pierre Part/Belle River) effective July 23, 2026. The Jury approved the first phase of the derelict structure procedure for a dwelling at 3023 Hwy 1, Labadieville; a separate derelict-structure item for 731 Shell Beach Road was tabled because the assessment listed an incorrect address.
President Jeff Naquin recognized a public request from Ms. Zondra Southall to convert a former right-of-way (Brown Street/Bertrandville) into an official parish road to restore emergency access for elderly neighbors; parish officials said the road is currently not a parish road and that the Secretary-Treasurer and Permit Official will review requirements to bring the way up to parish standards. The Jury approved a CEA with Camo Cutters to access the Ag Center property to manage trees on Elmfield Drive, granted substantial completion for the Concession Stand Roof Project, authorized DOTD reimbursement agreements for State Project No. RU-18-04-27 (Council on Aging) and adopted ordinance 26-09 to levy grass-cutting charges totaling $1,745.20. The Jury also approved a slate of occupational-license applications for new local businesses.
