Jurors press DOTD for priority work on LA 1 after complaints about dangerous bulges

Road & Bridge Committee members reported repeated accidents and safety problems on LA 1 caused by roadway "bulges" and voted to send a resolution to DOTD asking for priority treatment — including grass cutting, tree trimming, ditch clearing and overlays — for state highways in the parish. Committee member Leroy Blanchard urged the resolution be sent directly to DOTD Secretary Ledet and requested a meeting with Mr. Joshua Stutes to discuss parish road needs.
After the committee reconvened, CJ Savoie updated the panel on the 2025 Road Overlay Program. Savoie said crews have been patching and doing minor paving in Wards 2 and 4, were working on Palm Lane and expected to move to Dogwood Lane; he said that, weather permitting, they are "projecting to have it complete by the end of August." The committee approved requesting DOTD priority and a meeting with DOTD staff; both motions were unanimously adopted.
