The Town of Washington Zoning Board of Adjustments voted June 22 to grant a 9-foot rear setback variance to Nicole Anson and Corey Brigham for Lot 14-271 on Lincoln Drive. During the public meeting, abutter Anthony Dinderski supplied a letter saying he did not object to the reduced setback but warned a small stream on his property could flood if flow were disrupted. The board reviewed existing DES activity and found the applicants had reduced the house size to limit the variance to 9 feet.
In deliberation the board applied the five statutory criteria and found the applicants had demonstrated hardship because of wetlands at the front of the lot and had cooperated to reduce the house size. The motion to grant the 9-foot rear setback variance was made by Joe Shea and seconded by Gary Carney; the minutes record unanimous approval. The board recommended the applicants address DES and well-setback concerns (LUO 312 and state guidance DWGB-21-1) as part of final permitting.
