Board discusses tightening grant vetting and whether to permit underground fencing

Trustee Brandon Smith proposed changes to the village grant process aimed at improving vetting and timing. Smith recommended checking that organizations are in good standing with the general trust bureau and confirming nonprofit (503c) status, and he said applicants should file materials 60 days prior to the April Board Meeting to allow verification time.
Smith said an ordinance would be needed to codify the change. On a separate permitting point, President Steve Buss said there is currently no permit required for underground fencing and noted that if a permit were required it would establish lot lines and prevent property owners from burying fences off their property.
