The Wessington Springs City Council opened bids for street work and awarded several contracts at its April 8 meeting. After bids were read, the council awarded the chip-seal Option #1 contract to The Road Guy at $2.65 per square yard following a motion by Pat Fastnacht and seconded by Cherie Maxwell.
Feistner Gravel & Excavation LLP was awarded three gravel items: 1" crushed gravel at $12.50 per ton (Eagle Pit), 1 1/4" screened gravel at $9.50 per ton (Eagle Pit) and base course at $14.50 per ton (Schlegal Pit). The council also accepted bids for pink quartz chips for the record but did not separately award them because the chosen chip-seal option included pink quartz chips.
