District 112 approves Quest food-service contract pricing; student lunch to rise to $4.25
Summary

Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Jeremy Davis told the Board that Quest, the district’s new food-service provider, submitted pricing reflecting higher food costs. District expense per lunch will increase by $0.60; the administration proposed a $0.40 student lunch price increase to $4.25 and recommended keeping the student breakfast price at $2.85.
Mr. Davis noted 22% of district students qualify for free or reduced-price meals and described an existing summer breakfast program that provides free breakfast to all summer school students and anyone in the community under age 18. The Board approved the recommended pricing. Melissa Itkin moved the motion; Bennett Lasko seconded; roll call vote 5–0.
Why it matters: the change shifts a portion of increased food-service costs onto paid lunch purchasers while maintaining access points for students eligible for free/reduced-price meals and preserving the breakfast price.
