District 112 enrollment down by 60 students from last year; Pre-K decline largest

Assistant Superintendent for Student Services Dr. Holly Colin presented the district's 6th-day enrollment figures: 3,475 students in grades K–8 and 148 Pre-K students for a PK–8 total of 3,623 as of Aug. 29, 2025. "This is 60 fewer students overall than were enrolled in 2024-25," Colin said, and she highlighted that Pre-K declined by 41 students but that numbers are expected to increase throughout the year as three-year-olds become eligible.
Colin explained school-level shifts driving the numbers: Ravinia increased by 59 primarily because Braeside and Sherwood special education programs relocated there; Red Oak decreased by 19 after the district maintained a single kindergarten section at Red Oak and shifted other dual-language kindergarten sections to Oak Terrace; Northwood saw a 53-student decrease associated with a decline in dual-language enrollment.
