District launches task force to guide K–5 dual-language consolidation into Oak Terrace

Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning Dr. Michael Rodrigo and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Monica Schroeder presented District 112's Strategic Change Agenda using the 4DX framework and outlined two Wildly Important Goals. The first WIG targets a 6-percentage-point increase in students meeting or exceeding grade-level proficiency in English Language Arts on IAR (from 73% to 79% by the end of 2026–27), an objective the administration described as "rigorous" but achievable after an ECRA Group review of state cut-score changes, according to Dr. Rodrigo and Dr. John Gatta of ECRA.
The second WIG focuses on consolidating the K–5 dual-language program into Oak Terrace. Dr. Schroeder described the Task Force structure — Student Success, Family Engagement, and Facility & Operations subcommittees — with nearly 60 parent and staff volunteers; the Student Success group will work on an RFP for a third-party assessment of the dual-language program. The Task Force will meet starting Oct. 23 with subcommittee work through March and a formal board report expected in May 2026.
