Board renews food service contract, approves insurance payments and adopts policy updates

The Rankin School District #98 Board approved a one-year contract renewal with M.J. Kellner Co., Inc. as the district's food supplier for the 2025–26 school year by unanimous roll call (6-0).
On insurance, Member Bacon moved and Member Kohl seconded approval of James Unland & Co., Inc.'s quote and payments to Accident Fund and the Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust for property and casualty insurance covering July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. The motion passed with five "Yea" votes and one abstention by President Debbie Lowman (recorded as 5-0-1).
The board also approved first reading/adoption of multiple policy updates from PRESS ISSUE #118 (April 2025), excluding policies 6:310 and 7:315, and directed that administrative procedures and exhibits from PRESS ISSUE #118 be added to the district administrative procedures manual excluding 7:315-AP and deleting 2:265-AP3. Policies adopted include updates to Title IX grievance procedures, accounting and audits, food services review, student behavior procedures, and other policy areas enumerated in the minutes.
