Board approves multiple hires, paraprofessional pay adjustments and co-curricular assignments
Summary
The Rankin Board approved employment items including hire of Jayza Riley as Physical Education Teacher and Assistant Track Coach, Vivian Harper as Special Education Teacher (pending ISBE licensure), Gina Perry as paraprofessional, support-staff and substitute wage adjustments, and co-curricular assignments. All employment votes were unanimous (6-0).
Following executive session, the board approved several employment items by roll call vote (6-0).
Approved hires included Jayza Riley as Physical Education Teacher (K–8) at BS Step 5 per the Rankin Association of Teachers agreement, and as Assistant Track and Field Coach (boys) at 3.10% of the 2025–26 base salary. Vivian Harper was approved as a Special Education Teacher at BS Step 0 pending ISBE licensure. Gina Perry was approved as a Paraprofessional/Teacher's Aide for 2025–26 at $15.00 per hour.
The board also approved support staff wage adjustments effective July 1, 2025; substitute position wage adjustments effective July 1, 2025; and co-curricular/extracurricular assignments as presented. Each motion carried on a 6-0 roll call vote.
The minutes record that Vivian Harper's hire is contingent on receipt of ISBE licensure and that her prior paraprofessional role resignation will take effect contingent on her teacher employment approval.
