Elko County to submit hazmat trailer fire, wrecks and landfill battery fire to state CERC

Members also reported multiple wrecks in Wild Horse Canyon and near Mountain City that led to chemicals entering waterways, and James Johnson said a lithium-battery fire at the county landfill had been submitted to the state and the EPA. After discussion, Matt Peterson moved to submit the described events to CERC and Daniel Hassett seconded; the voice motion carried with no opposition recorded.
The committee asked staff to ensure that dates and forms are completed (Sarah Dill was identified as the contact to receive incident details) so state reporting can be finalized. No additional action beyond submission to CERC was recorded.
